Can you guess what my favorite fragrance is? It’s Island Vanilla! Island Vanilla is a weird fragrance because this fragrance changes depending on the product form. With some forms it’s sweet yet unique, in another form it’s sweet like a bakery, in another form it smells like bread, and in another form the scent is spicy. Other fragrances like Hawaiian Ruby Guava and Tuscan Blood Orange have a consistent scent regardless of the product form. Because of that, I’ve decided to review all of the Island Vanilla products that I own separately in this post. I tried posting reviews on the Pacifica website several weeks ago but none of them are showing up on the site. I’m assuming that they’ll never end up on the site which is why I was inspired to make a review post. I also don’t see many reviews on a lot of Pacifica products so I figure I’d put one out there for people to see.

➸ Perfume Spray
The perfume spray is my favorite out of all of the forms this fragrance comes in. The scent is sweet and delicious, yet it is a unique vanilla fragrance. The bottle is tiny and only comes in a one ounce bottle which is unfortunate. However, the strength of this perfume is very nice. I typically use 3-4 sprays and I’ll be good to go for the rest of the day. The perfume doesn’t come with a cap which actually bothered me at first. However, I eventually got used to it and actually started to appreciate that I didn’t have to worry about misplacing a cap.
➸ Perfume Rollerball
The rollerball is just as amazing as the perfume spray. The only difference is the method of application. The rollerball is used by rolling the fragrance onto your skin. The rollerball is hit or miss. I’ve had one rollerball that distributed a decent amount of product and I’ve had another that barely distributed any product. I also noticed that the perfume liquid inside the rollerball got contaminated. I layer my fragrance with soap, body butter, solid perfume, then liquid perfume. All of the products, along with my own natural skin oils, mixed into the liquid perfume and it eventually turned the clear liquid into a cloudy, funky looking liquid. I didn’t feel comfortable using a discolored liquid on my skin even though the scent was fine. I think a pen spray perfume would be a better option since Pacifica doesn’t use perfumers alcohol which binds oil and water. I’ve never experienced this with rollerballs in designer fragrances.
➸ Solid Perfume
Oh my gosh! I could bathe in this fragrance! The Island Vanilla fragrance is a bit different in this form compared to the liquid perfume. I’m assuming the coconut wax changes the fragrance. The solid perfume smells like a delicious bakery. I love the scent of this solid perfume so much that I have FOUR backups for when I run out of my current one. I’ve already used up one and am halfway through a second solid perfume. The product itself is very moisturizing wherever you choose to apply it. It’s also an excellent base for boosting the longevity of the spray perfume. The only downside to the solid perfume is the poor lasting power. The scent is strong for about 15-20 minutes before it fades into a very light fragrance. The light fragrance lasts for about an hour or two before the scent completely disappears. The size of the tin is small and contains .33 oz of product. A single tin will last me about a month. The sample size (.1 oz) of the solid perfume lasts me a little over a week. I should also mention that I use this product 4 or 5 times in a single day because I cannot get enough of the scent.
➸ Body Butter
I actually dislike the fragrance of the body butter quite a bit but the formulation is so luxurious! Pacifica’s body butters are the best that I’ve ever tried, and I’ve tried A LOT. I was overly excited about owning the body butter in the Island Vanilla fragrance so I ordered multiples of the body butter. I assumed that the body butter would smell just like the liquid perfume because other body butters match the scent of the liquid perfume. I’ve tried Tuscan Blood Orange, Indian Coconut Nectar, and Hawaiian Ruby Guava in all forms and their fragrances all matched the other forms the scent came in. In fact, the body butters in those three scents were very strong to the point where I usually forgot to wear perfume.
The Island Vanilla body butter disappointed me greatly. To me, the body butter smells very dull and similar to bread. I couldn’t smell any of the Island Vanilla fragrance in it. I contacted customer service and they told me that the batch of body butter that I received was fine. The CS rep thought that maybe I was sensitive to the body butter formula and could not detect the Island Vanilla fragrance in this form, which I don’t doubt. Everybody’s noses are different after all. The CS rep actually got the batch number from me and tested it herself in order to check if the smell was truly off or if I wasn’t able to properly smell the product. According to the CS rep, the batch smells sweet and delicious (like cookies).
I’ve used almost 2/3 of a tube and I cannot smell the Island Vanilla fragrance when sniffing directly from the tube, while applying to the skin, or even after the product has settled on my skin. I know that I’m not used to the fragrance because I’m still able to smell the other forms of this fragrance just fine. I’ve also asked a few people to describe the scent of the body butter to me and everybody, more or less, said that it smelled weird (not like sweet vanilla or any sugary treat). Because of that, I’m personally going to avoid repurchasing this product because the scent doesn’t match the perfume. To be fair, the CS rep did extend the offer to return the products. However, I didn’t want to pay return shipping for the heavy body butters nor did I feel comfortable sending back opened products that are supposedly made correctly. I know I’m being naive by trusting somebody in sales but I’m just taking this as a lesson learned. I’m just going to buy the body butter in fragrances that I already know perform well and match the liquid perfume form.
➸ Natural Soap
Mmmmm, this soap smells so good! I can’t wait to take a shower every day because I want to use this soap! The soap is a large bar that comes with almond peels as garnish. I think that it’s a nice touch. The scent of this soap perfectly matches the scent of the liquid perfume. The soap performs well and the bar lasts a long time. My skin feels squeaky clean without feeling overly dry afterwards. It also doesn’t feel like the soap leaves a film on my skin which is great! I feel comfortable using this soap everywhere on my body including my face. While the price of the soap seems expensive, I personally think it’s money well spent. I’ve gone through two and I’ll repurchase more when I run out of soap. One bar lasts me about one month but should last a normal person 2+ months. I wash myself down two or three times in the shower because I can’t get enough of the scent, haha. If there’s one thing that I would suggest trying (in any fragrance), it’s the natural soap.
➸ Lotion Wipes
The lotion wipes are amazing! This product is incredibly versatile and is a big time saver. My only minor peeve with the lotion wipes (in all fragrances) is the slight alteration in scent. All of the lotion wipes have a “spicy” note added to it. I’m not sure if it’s the coconut water that alters the fragrance or if it’s the cloth. I’m assuming it’s the coconut water because Indian Coconut Nectar is the only one that doesn’t seem different in fragrance compared to its other forms. One wipe is enough to cover the arms, chest, shoulders, and back. It’s excellent for a “shower” after the gym or on a hot day. The lotion wipes also feel cool and refreshing when I’m feeling a bit flushed. If you’re a busy bee or have troubles bending/trying to reach certain spots on your body, the product is great! I never moisturized my back because I couldn’t handle reaching back there and trying to rub lotion in. Now it’s a 2 second process and my back is fully moisturized. I also gave a pack to my mom since she has troubles bending and moisturizing her feet and legs. Now she can moisturize in a few seconds rather than struggling to rub product into her skin. I would highly recommend giving this product a try!
