Everybody wishes for a miracle hair product, right? I certainly do. Pantene came out with a product that claims to be an overnight miracle. Of course I’d be intrigued by it. My hair is naturally curly, which means my hair is full of damage. I’ve also chemically dyed it with box dyes which means my hair is dry. I blow dry my hair daily and also flat iron my bangs and the ends of my hair daily, which means my hair is brittle and rough.
The review is a little long, so I’ll just state my final thoughts at the beginning: I think this product is just a gimmick and doesn’t do anything to repair the hair, restore it, or make it look healthy. It doesn’t even make it soft which is disappointing for a hair product that was left in my hair all night. I would not recommend this product to anybody who regularly uses hair styling tools or hair products. It seems like the best reviews come from people who say, “I’m not used to teasing, curling, flat ironing, dying, hair spraying, etc”.
Pantene’s claims: Pantene® Pro-V® Overnight Miracle Repair Serum has a weightless, non-sticky formula that helps restore hair while you sleep for a healthy looking start each morning. Hair is smooth, shiny, and soft, without leaving residue on your pillow.
When looking at the packaging for Pantene’s Overnight Miracle Treatment, my expectations were already set low. The bottle comes nicely packaged with a pump, and you get quite a bit of product. A miracle product most likely would not be sold at such a cheap price with such a large amount of product.
After giving this product a try, I was disappointed as I expected to be. I have thick, curly, long, dry, and damaged hair. I was expecting this to do SOMETHING to my hair since my hair usually soaks up moisture like a sponge. This product is marketed as a repair serum but it has more of a gel-cream consistency. It doesn’t feel oily like most serums do so it definitely doesn’t feel like it will nourish my hair.
I’ve tried this product on several occasions using it different ways – on fresh, clean hair before bed, on dry hair, on wet hair, on day old hair with hair products in it, and I’ve even used it as a day serum instead of an overnight treatment. No matter how many times I try to use this product, it doesn’t do anything.
I will admit that this product does feel lightweight and dries feeling like nothing. It also smells fantastic. However, in the end, this product has been a waste of money.
I was expecting this product to be a normal conditioner marketed as a leave-in treatment. Plenty of companies do this – Tresemme’s Split Remedy Leave-In Treatment feels just like normal conditioner when washed out, Herbal Essences Split End Treatments are just conditioner, and Got2b Lustre lotion is similar to conditioner (hard to say since Got2b doesn’t make conditioner and I can’t compare it). I’ve tried plenty of creams and lotions that claim to be miracles and dayside conditioners, but I’ve learned not to buy anything that isn’t clearly an oil-type serum. In the end, Pantene was a let down and acted no differently than a mislabeled conditioner.
