It’s time for August favorites! I’m still enjoying the products from last month and use them regularly , but this month I thought I’d show you some other favorites of mine.
There are some new products that I purchased this month and some other products that I’ve loved for quite a while but rediscovered.
I try to avoid showing the same products each month because I want you guys to learn about different products.
How helpful would I be if I posted the same favorites every month?
Not very, right?
Now, onto the product favorites! 🙂
Forever Red Eau Du Parfum from Bath & Body Works – This perfume is sweet elegance. You can find the notes here since I honestly can’t simplify the way this fragrance smells. It’s just beautiful for any time of the day and any occasion during any time of the year. It’s pricey for a BBW fragrance but I definitely think it’s worth it, especially if you have coupons. As of right now, you can order the mini spray or the rollerball perfume for $5.00 each on the website. The spray has .25fl oz while the rollerball has .24 fl oz. However, even if you get the spray, it’s hard to get that last little bit out. There really is no better value between the two mini options.
E.l.f Essential Glitter Eyeshadow in Shopaholic – This shadow is a little powdery with glitter fallout (which is minimal and sweeps away with ease). However, when layered on top of E.l.f’s Studio Cream Shadow in Eggplant, the shadow looks really pretty! I love the soft, natural looking purple with a pop of sparkle. The one pictured is “half missing” because I crushed some of the shadow up and created a small eyeshadow pan for my palette. With half of the shadow left after making a full regular sized eyeshadow pan, you can really tell how much product you get for just $2.00.
Rohto Eyedrops Hydra – Refreshing eye drops that sooth the eyes. It’s great for contact lens wearers and those with dry eyes. I love the “minty” tingle. I love the entire line except for the blue packaged eye drops. For some reason, that one makes my eyes itch like crazy.
Jean Michel Collage Eyeshadow Trio – I don’t think this trio is being sold anymore but I was surprised at the quality of these shadows. I typically find matte shades to be really powdery; and that they also need to be applied with several layers to reach the desired opacity. The shadows in this trio are super smooth and velvety. Plus the matte shades AREN’T powdery or chalky. The matte shades apply like a shimmer shade (usually very smooth and pigmented with minimal fallout).
Avon Nautrals Banana & Coconut Milk Conditioner – Miracle in a bottle! I only use this conditioner once in a while when my hair feels destroyed. I’ll leave this conditioner on for about 5 minutes during my shower and by the end of the shower, my hair will feel UNBELIEVABLY SOFT. I usually only buy these conditioners when they’re on sale for $1.99 each with free shipping on $10 orders (or less). I’ve gone through 6 of these bottles and I will definitely continue to repurchase it!
E.l.f Studio Brushes; Kabuki, Flat Top Powder Brush, Concealer Brush, and Contour Brush – I like to refer to the kabuki brush as my “baby buki”. It’s actually not that small. It’s about the size of a large powder brush. There is very little shedding and the bristles are super soft. I like to use the kabuki to apply finishing powder. Next up is the Powder Brush. I use this brush for everything – blush, bronzer, foundation, and powder. This brush is so great that I have over a dozen and will probably buy more. I use a foundation brush only once before I consider it dirty so that’s why I have so many brushes to begin with. I’d get more just to avoid washing brushes every week and hopefully spread my makeup brush washing to every month. Last are the contour and concealer brushes. These brushes would be great for applying contour shadow to the eyes, and it’ll be great for anybody to contour the nose with. They blend makeup perfectly and my brushes haven’t shed any hairs.
Holika Holika Soda Pore Cleansing BB Deep Cleansing Oil – First off, I would like to say that this product smells like a box of Fruity Pebbles. It’s really sweet and candy-like. With that being said, this product is mind-blowing. If you use it properly, your skin will be purged of more blackheads than you knew your skin could hold. My skin isn’t that bad to begin with but the first time I used this product, I saw a good 50+ blackheads/whiteheads on my towel when I was rinsing the oil off of my face.
Africa’s Best Herbal Oil – I purchased a 12 ounce bottle for only $1.99 at Target! This oil is seriously amazing. I use it on my skin and it keeps my body feeling soft. I also use it on my feet and it moisturizes just as well as The Body Shop’s Body Butter (another favorite product). I also like to use this product on my hair as a serum, leave-in conditioner at night, or a hot oil treatment. This product does a nice job at bringing the health back to my hair. This oil smells like soft baby powder and is loaded with wonderful ingredients (no mineral oil) – Soybean (Glycine Soja) Oil , Walnut (Juglans Regia) Seed Oil , Kiwi Fruit Extract , Olive Fruit Oil , etc. Seriously, go buy this right now.
Tarte Clean Slate 360º Creaseless 12-hr Smoothing Eye Primer – I have been using E.l.f’s Essential and Mineral Primers for years. I switched from using Urban Decay because I felt they were on par with one another but with a huge price difference. However, this summer, my eyelids have been incredibly oily. I tried using Maybelline Color Tattoos and Elf Cream Shadows on top of the primer but under my shadows in hopes of increasing the longevity of my shadows but to no avail. My E.l.f Primers weren’t working as nicely anymore so I decided to try a Tarte Eye Primer I had laying around. It definitely surprised me and did a great job at keeping my eye makeup looking nice all day.
Tarte Clean Slate Poreless 12-hr Perfecting Primer – Another great primer for oily skin! This came in a set and I just recently got around to trying it. I went from needing to blot/powder my skin 4-5 times a day to only needing to powder once. That’s pretty dang amazing considering how oily my skin has been. I don’t need much of the primer if I just want to control shine. However, if you want to minimize the appearance of pores, you’ll have to use quite a bit of product. To be fair, it does minimize the appearance of pores if you use enough product and your skin will look flawless.
Secret Gel Stick Deodorants (Outlast & Scent Expressions) – These deodorants are great. They last all day and they smell great. The Secret Outlast is stronger and great for girls on the go and Scent Expressions is great for a normal day with minimal sweat. If I had to pick one, I’d pick Secret Outlast since I’m actually getting sick of deodorant fragrances that aren’t considered “fresh and clean”. The Scent Expressions work very well but I won’t repurchase this one again simply because I don’t want my armpits smelling like an exotic fruit basket.
E.l.f Blush & Bronzer Duo in St. Lucia – I have a review up of this compact and you’ll see in the pictures that the bronzer is barely darker than my skin. It’s barely noticeable when applied on my bare skin. However, I’ve recently been using matte foundations that are a shade lighter, so this bronzer has been showing up and it looks GREAT. Since it’s so close to my skin tone, it actually looks like a true shadow. I use the bronzer every day now. I don’t really use the blush though since I’ve been trying to use up other higher quality blushes.
