Hello everybody! This post will be featuring my product regrets for the month of January. I forgot to add a photo of the Nicka K Polish in the main photo but there is a photo of it below. There is a surprisingly large list of dislikes in this post. Let’s get right into it, shall we?
e.l.f Zit Zapper Pen – I wanted to like this product because it has plenty of good reviews on it. This product is also packed full of ingredients that are great for blemished skin. However, this product did nothing for my skin. Plus, I think this product smells terrible so it makes it even more unpleasant to use. I have tried and tested this product out over and over again but I still haven’t seen it do anything for my blemishes.
Sephora Age Defy Moisture Cream – This is actually a sample product that I received from Sephora but I still wanted to mention this product. I was excited when I first smelled this product because I thought it could be a dupe for a Vichy face cream. But after using this Sephora cream on my face, I noticed that the product didn’t soak into my skin. After the product had some time to settle, it would start to peel and flake off of my skin if I touched my face. This product is basically useless since my skin doesn’t even absorb it.
Ulta Precision Liquid Eyeliner – Overpriced with terrible pigmentation. When you get this product new, you can get decent opacity on one eye but the tip dries out by the second eye and it is hard to get more product into the tip to finish the other eye. You can get a better quality eyeliner for less than half the price. This product fails in so many ways. I thought I purchased a bad one but after trying out 3 pens, I had the same result. AVOID IT.
Surgi Care Brazilian Waxing Kit – I absolutely love the face waxing kit and I assumed that the brazilian kit was a repackaged version of the face kit since a lot of companies use this marketing technique. Unfortunately, this truly is a unique wax formula. When applying, it seems like this product never truly dries. I’ve even tried sitting in front of a fan and an open window to help cool the wax off. It stays sticky and moldable which makes it hard to wax. The wax “dries” to something similar to silly putty. Even with muslin cloths (which shouldn’t even be needed because this is a hard wax), the product doesn’t do a good job at removing hair. I have used this product EVERYWHERE and I always have a bunch of wax left over. It’s useless for the bikini area, legs, armpits, and face. I feel like this product does a better job at ripping off my skin instead of my hair. It hurts quite a bit to use this product. The brazilian kit is terrible. Skip this even if you can get it for around $2.00 like I did. It’s not worth it.
Avon Fiji Paradise Body Mist – As a Fijian girl, I am sorely disappointed with this fragrance. This fragrance smells like a rip off version of Bath & Body Works’ Hawaii Coconut fragrance that was launched a couple of years ago, and it looks like an altered version of a Fiji Water bottle. The packaging is absolutely beautiful but the fragrance is terrible. The fragrance basically smells like coconut husk, plain flowers, and musk. It’s very bland, far from sweet, and very boring. It actually reminds me of the way my Fijian grandma smells naturally (“old lady” smell mixed with pure coconut oil). If Avon wanted to capture Fiji in a fragrance, they should have used papaya, guava, starfruit, passion fruit, mango, pineapple, and/or sugar cane. I think any Fijian would agree with me. If they had to copy a Bath & Body Works fragrance, I wish they chose to mimic the recently discontinued Pure Paradise fragrance. THAT fragrance screams “FIJI PARADISE”.
Bath & Body Works Mango Mandarin Body Mist – I was really excited to try this fragrance because I had hoped it would be similar to Suave Naturals Mango Mandarin Body Wash. They’re nothing alike but that’s okay because the fragrance is still very refreshing and nice. My complaint with this fragrance is the lasting power. I can spray myself 25 times and the scent will be completely gone within 20 minutes. If this fragrance is something you’re interested in trying, skip the mist and opt for a body lotion/cream. I own the body cream and the strength on that product is decent.
Nicka K New York Nail Color – I received this in my Ipsy bag a few months ago and at first, I really liked this polish. The color transforms from a bright red to a deep red as it dries and it has a nice, glossy finish. The thing that I hate about this polish is how terrible the chipping is. On its own, the product will chip by the next day regardless of how many coats of polish I use. Even if I used a nice base coat and top coat, this polish still managed to chip by day 2. The worst part? It’s next to impossible to get off without soaking my nails in polish remover for an hour.
