This month’s ipsy bag featured a lot of great products. The theme for this month was Pretty in Paradise where ipsy “picked products that are excellent for an extravagant getaway or a quintessential kit for a quick trip for some peace and quiet.” The actual bag was designed by Rebecca Minkoff and has a pineapple print on it. I’m not one to fall in love with items simply because it has a designer name on it. With that being said, I don’t like the actual design but I do love the quality and the front zip feature.
Out of all of the items that were given out this month, I ended up getting a bag where I was happy with 100% of the items.
Products that I received:
- Nyx Butter Lip Gloss in Apple Strudel – $4.99
- Jesse’s Girl Liquid Eyeliner – $6.99
- Be a Bombshell Lash Out Mascara – $15.00
- Skinn Olive and Enzyme Cleanser 2oz/58mL – $7.00
- Dove Pure Care Dry Oil 0.4oz/11mL – approx $1.32
- TOTAL: $35.30
NYX BUTTER LIP GLOSS IN APPLE STRUDEL
This gloss is absolutely wonderful! I’m sure you’ve heard about the hype revolving around this product. The formula is very creamy and leaves the lips feeling moisturized and nourished. The color of the gloss is semi-opaque and will look different on everybody depending on the natural color of their lips. And lastly, the scent smells like a vanilla pastry. At first , I was a bit disappointed about receiving a coral shade. However, it applies more like a pink-mauve shade on my lips and there is no hint of orange. Love this product!
JESSE’S GIRL LIQUID EYELINER
Again, this is another product that has received a lot of hype. After trying this product out, I finally understood all of the hype. This eyeliner pen is AMAZING and it’s a shame that it’s only sold at Rite-Aid stores. The packaging is sleek with a mirror-like exterior. The actual applicator looks like it’s a felt tip but it is actually a brush. The point of this brush is so precise and is perfect for detailing. The formula of this eyeliner is out of this world. The pigmentation is super rich and black. I love that it doesn’t apply unevenly or leave streaks. One swipe of the brush will leave a perfectly opaque line. Once this eyeliner sets, it will not go anywhere unless you use an oil cleanser. Truthfully, I have nothing bad to say about this eyeliner. This is the best eyeliner that I have EVER tried.
BE A BOMBSHELL LASH OUT MASCARA
I would like to start off by saying that I was happy to receive this in my bag because I’m a mascara junkie. However, after actually trying the mascara, I was very disappointed with Be a Bombshell. This brand has a lot of high quality items but this one was just awful. The tube and mascara formula reminded me of the cheap mascaras you can find on ebay for around $1.00 a tube. Then again, this product is made in PRC (People’s Republic of China). The formula for this mascara is very thick and gloopy which I really dislike. I also cannot stand the scent of this product. It smells like the acrylic liquid used at nail salons. It’s way, way, way too strong. The brush for the mascara is just a standard spoolie which doesn’t do anything for my lashes. I tried this mascara once and it’s going in the trash.
SKINN OLIVE AND ENZYME CLEANSER
I like this cleanser quite a bit! It’s a cream consistency but it applies like an oil. I feel like this product is best applied onto a dry face so that the oily consistency of the product can break down my makeup and then I can rinse it off with some warm water. It does leave an oily residue on my skin so I think that this cleanser is better suited for those with dry skin. This cleanser also claims to double as a mask that reduces wrinkles, which also makes me believe that this product is designed for dry skin. Since I’m an oily skinned girl, I’ll be using this cleanser at night. This product is quite lovely though I most likely won’t purchase a full size.
DOVE PURE CARE DRY OIL
This sample looks really small but it will last a long time. I only need a few drops of product for my hair which is about armpit length. The scent of this product reminds me of baby powder transformed into a perfume. It’s very powdery and clean smelling. The actual product does exactly what it claims – it acts as an oil but it is quickly absorbed by my hair. Since I have thick hair, this product isn’t anything special for me compared to a serum or normal hair oil. However, I’d imagine this to be the perfect product for those with light colored hair and/or those with fine textured hair.
